The feature article, titled “Technology That Gives AI Its Vision – AI Vision Semiconductors by Eyenix,” highlights Eyenix’s 24 years of expertise in Image Signal Processing (ISP) technology, as well as the company’s evolution toward AI Vision SoCs and its future business direction.
Building on its extensive expertise in ISP technology, Eyenix has been developing Edge AI solutions that integrate an NPU for AI processing and a CPU into a single SoC, enabling both image processing and AI inference to be performed directly within the camera.
A key strength of Eyenix’s AI Vision technology lies in its ability to deliver high-quality images even under challenging conditions, such as low-light and high-contrast environments,enabling AI algorithms to recognize objects and situations with greater accuracy.
The article also introduces EN683, Eyenix’s AI Vision SoC currently under development, which builds on these core technologies.
EN683 combines Eyenix’s advanced ISP technology with a 2.7-TOPS NPU, enabling a wide range of AI Vision applications to be performed directly on the camera, including object recognition, abnormal behavior detection, face and license plate recognition, real-time privacy protection, and defect detection in smart factories.
The article also highlights Eyenix’s efforts to build a domestic AI Vision SoC ecosystem leveraging Korea’s semiconductor supply chain from development through manufacturing.
Centered on its proprietary ISP technology, Eyenix collaborates with domestic NPU IP and CPU technology providers, Samsung Foundry, and Korean semiconductor packaging companies.
In the interview, CEO Hwang emphasized that competitiveness in AI semiconductors is not determined by computing performance alone.
Equally important is the ability to provide high-quality visual data that enables AI to make accurate decisions.
He noted that Eyenix’s 24 years of accumulated expertise in ISP technology represents a key competitive advantage in achieving this goal.
CEO Hwang also underscored the importance of strengthening Korea’s domestic AI semiconductor ecosystem through collaboration among IP companies, foundries, and packaging partners.
Looking ahead, Eyenix plans to expand its AI Vision SoC technology beyond intelligent video security into a broader range of applications, including smart home appliances, AIoT, drones, and defense.
Eyenix will continue to strengthen the competitiveness of its AI Vision SoCs by leveraging its extensive expertise in image processing and AI semiconductor technologies, while contributing to the growth of Korea’s AI semiconductor ecosystem and expanding its presence in global markets.
